 I love those boxers

Earlier this year I bought a 5-pack of Hanes Ultimate boxers from Shopko. They looked exactly as the ones described here. I love those boxers. Nice and thick material, plenty of room, good stretch in the waste. Very comfortable. By far my favorite boxers to date. My fiancée commented on how nice they were, and that is not something she ever really took notice of before.

Then I found these online. Hanes ultimate boxers. Ordered in the same year with the same labels and in the same size and packaging. I thought I would get the same thing. But these are not the same. They are crap. Wafer thin, narrower waste, less stretchy, and overall just cheap crappy underwear.

And to be honest, I am not surprised. Hanes is always changing their products. Two years ago I bought some Comfortsoft t-shirts in black and grey. They fit great. This year I bought them again and they were much shorter and did not stay tucked. Same for their black socks. Even the “cushioned” bottom socks seem so thin. And with so many names - Ultimate, comfortblend, comfortsoft, premium, etc. There is just no consistency with their brand.

I do think I am done with Hanes for the time being. Socks, shirts, underwear - these really can’t be opened and tried on in the store. I am tired of playing underwear roulette each year and hoping I picked the right thing or being stuck with it. Fruit of the loom makes some “Premium” products that live up to the hype. Kirkland and Jockey are good brands too. Hanes needs to step up their game.

I should have taken pictures, I should have sent these back, I should have done a lot of things, but life has been chaotic and as I put it off, I continued to do so till today, the last straw (and the last pair of underwear from the pack). So far, 3 out of the 5 pairs of these have "failed out of the package". What I mean by that is, the waist bands were not securely stitched, they have very loose threads and stitches to the point that the waist pulls right off the boxers as easy as pulling "fall off the bone' ham off the bone... The first pair I pulled out and unrolled, I managed to put a 6 inch hole in them on the left hip from such loose stitching. 2nd and 3rd pair okay, and today, the stitching on my last two pair failed right out of the package at the very back of the band where it all ties together. Where the old tags used to go. Man, I am miffed. I was getting low on undies, doing wash a little more often than I was really able to work in, so I bought this package to migrate into my routine and have some nice, new ones ready to go in a pinch... FAIL!

This is a new style of Hanes for me. They are a good, comfortable, loose fit for me. Now, this IS the first time I ever bought any online. If you could see my history, I have been with Amazon for years. A Prime member since it became a thing. I buy EVERYTHING online now: food, shoes, movies, book, games, jewelry, tools, you name it. I have run into few problems. I do not know if it is Hane's in general, this particular style, or this vendor knowingly discounting and selling defective product, but I am not a fan and will not be buying from product or vendor as it stands.

I purchased two packs. The pictures of potential patterns for these boxers showed some color, especially blues. When I got them, they were all black and white. The two packages were just doubles of the very weird patterns (none like the pictures). The material is very rough and stiff. I'll be returning these.

 

i ordered these based on the picture, which showed the "hanes" in full letters without two white bands as those in my previous order from ones i wanted have a sturdier elastic at the waist. i am returning these as the product is not as shown but the vendor still requires that i pay postage.

so if you're going to purchase these, get them from the other vendor. save yourself $10. but i'm going to my local store to see if i can still get the ones with the "hanes" in full letters and without the white bands, with the sturdier elastic.
